The popular snus brand Göteborgs Rapé snus will get an addition, the Göteborgs Rapé No2, a snus with a flavour of fresh herbs and lingon berries.

The snus has the same flavour base as and characters as Göteborgs Rapé but we have added the flavour of lingon berries. This gives a fresh summer feeling taste says Mikael Arnebert, information director, Swedish Match Division Nord Europe.

The consumers really appreciate the fresh taste and aroma of Göteborgs Rapé but has been asking for a compliment and a different flavour.

Göteborgs Rapé snus is one of the fastest growing snus brands and has a market share of 12 percent. It is very popular in the west of Sweden and maybe not surprising in Gothenburg (Göteborg).

Göteborgs Rapé No2 is available in white large portions. The Göteborgs Rapé snus is a trademark from that was launched in 1919. Rapé is an old word in Swedish for torn. Swedish snus was already starting to be used inte the 18:th century when the snus was torn on graters and was used as nasal snuff and this was the new way of using the snus. The name Göteborgs Rapé is thought to come from the idea to give the new snus a more premium name or a snus with only the name of the city.(Swedish Match Press relese 2006-05-18)
